Today I was eating a grapefruit. I'm on a diet and so I'm back to eating healthier and more fruits and vegetables. Then I started thinking about a conversation with a family member and the cost of healthy food. Then I thought about something else: would you be able to afford healthy food if you were on a fixed income or not working?
We waste so much food in this country. We should truly be ashamed. I have been guilty of wasting food from time to time, but I've known people who don't like leftovers so they throw away everything after eating out. At least feed it to a starving animal....at least.
We live in a world full of food and there is no reason for anybody to be starving. I realize that one human being can't change the whole world and that our country does help other countries...but even still....
There would be less starving people if we changed one thing.....our hearts. Good will and helping others rather than criticizing and judging can help more people eat. Being unselfish can feed others.
I've known people who were a lot less fortunate than me along the way and they were the most giving. Because they get it.
If you grow your own fruits and veggies and you know some people in need ....please help them. I realize we live in a world full of concerns about liability and what not...but let's let God handle that.
If you can help someone you know or even a stranger on the street get food ...please do
