I love Easter. I always have, but I don't think I ever put as much emphasis on it as Christmas. My family didn't seem to either. What I find is there are many who don't seem to celebrate Easter with a lot of emphasis on the Resurrection. I don't mean they celebrated without it entirely...but did they really believe? Or did they listen in church and a few minutes after forget it and start worrying about Spring Break or in laws they don't like, etc?
Oh me too. Believe me. I have done that too. However, I can honestly say that this year Easter means a whole lot more to me. It means what it always should of meant. It is to me what it is always has been: a celebration of the return of Christ and the knowledge that He cares and is here to save us.
One thing I find a little irritating is that a lot of companies don't give you time off for Good Friday as a Holiday. Good Friday is one of the two biggest holidays we have. At least it's a major part of it.
Now, that all being said, I have always been able to get off work for Good Friday if I wanted to by taking a vacation day or unpaid holiday. I also know that a few businesses honor it, but I think every business should.
And as far as cute little chickadees and pretty eggs and the Easter Bunny...yes, that's cute....but I do not think it should be the focus of Easter. I would be willing to bet their are children out there who have no clue what Easter is really about.
